<english>You, Lord, our God, in love granted us Shabbat days for rest and Rosh Chodesh days for pardon of our sins. On account of the fact that we and our ancestors sinned before You,1 our city Jerusalem lies destroyed, our Holy Temple stands desolate, our glory has been banished, and dignity has been stripped from the House of our life, the Land of Israel. For this reason, we cannot discharge our duties in Your chosen House, the Holy Temple—in the great and holy House, which is termed the "House of God" and is known by Your name. This came about through the hand of our enemy, which was sent to ravage Your Holy Temple. Let it be Your will, Lord, our God and the God of our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that You should raise us with gladness to our land—the Land of Israel—and that You should root us firmly inside our borders. There we shall ready for You the offerings that we are bound to present: the daily burnt-offerings after their order set down in the Torah, and the Musaf offerings according to their statutes. With love we shall prepare and present to You the Musaf offerings for this Shabbat day and for this Rosh Chodesh day following the directives You desire us to observe, as You inscribed for us in Your Torah by Moses, Your servant, who restated the words in Your majestic Name.</english>

<text>1 We say that "our" sins caused the destruction of the Temple, even though the Temple was destroyed two thousand years ago. This is because, as our sages say, "He who has not had the Temple rebuilt in his days, it is as if it has been destroyed in his days." Our sins delay the rebuilding of the Temple, and are therefore considered as having destroyed it.</text>
