<english>Truly, God is my salvation. I am confident and unafraid, for the Lord God has saved me to show His might and that I may extol Him, and He has been my salvation. God's aid will be as abundant as water flowing from a spring, and you will draw water with joy from the springs of salvation. The power of salvation belongs to the Lord. God, may Your blessing rest upon Your people forever. The Lord, the God of all creations, is ever with us. The God of Jacob is our stronghold; He will grant us strength forever. Lord, God of all creations, fortunate is the one who trusts in You. Rescue us, Lord; let the King of the universe answer us on the day we cry out to Him.</english>

<text>1 One of the reasons we make a blessing on spices at the conclusion of Shabbat is because, during Shabbat, God gives us an "extra soul"—an additional level of holy energy. At the end of Shabbat this soul leaves us, and we are spiritually "weakened" by its departure. We therefore smell something nice in order to invigorate our spirit. On a festival we do not receive this additional soul; therefore, we do not smell spices at the conclusion of the festival.</text>

<text>2 We make a blessing on a flame on Saturday night to remind us that the first time a fire was made was on Saturday night. Since fire is forbidden on Shabbat and is now permitted, it is like a new creation to us. We do not say a blessing on a flame at the conclusion of Yom Tov, because lighting a fire (using a pre-existing flame) is permitted on Yom Tov, and it is therefore not considered a new creation at its conclusion. (Following Yom Kippur, however, we do say this blessing because lighting a fire is forbidden on Yom Kippur.)</text>

<text>3 One of the reasons why we look at our fingernails specifically is because, just as nails constantly grow, we hope that God will bless us at this time and cause us to grow as a nation. Additionally, while looking at our fingernails, it is customary to close and open our hands, signifying the fact that we are now allowed to engage in labor.</text>
