<english>Hymns do we raise unto mighty God, Who on Shabbat ceased from every labor. Upon Shabbat, creation's seventh day, He was exalted and took His seat upon His glorious throne in heaven. God clothed Shabbat, that restful day, in beauty and named the Shabbat day a delight. Such is Shabbat's hymn, that seventh day, for upon it God ceased from every labor of forming the universe. That seventh day itself extols God and declares, "A melody of prayer; a hymn for Shabbat's day: How good it is to laud the Lord."</english>

<english>God's name, that great, mighty, and awesome King. Holy is He. The Serafim angels each seek leave of one another, and they lovingly grant leave one to the other to take on themselves heaven's yoke of God's kingship; to pronounce God, Who made them, holy. This they do in a sweet spirit by speaking in lucid Hebrew—the Holy Language—and through a sacred pleasant melody. As one they all reply in awe, and declare what follows in reverence:</english>

<text>1 The lengthy description of the angels' Divine service is designed to arouse within ourselves a feeling of awe and fear toward God. Just as we would be filled with trepidation upon seeing a large number of noblemen bowing down to a human king, so are we filled with trepidation when we consider the angels' intense devotion to God.</text>

<text>2 Having a physical body causes a person to think about things that are not holy. These foreign thoughts interrupt our service of God. Angels, however, being unfamiliar with the physical nature of the body, have the ability to continuously "stand with fear" before God, uninterrupted.</text>
