<english>Keep His Covenant always in mind, the one He formed with our fathers. He commanded that the Covenant's words endure for one thousand generations. It is the Covenant He struck with Abraham and His oath to Isaac. He set His word as a statute for Jacob; as an eternal Covenant to the Children of Israel, never to be broken. These are the words God said to them: To you and your offspring, the Jewish Nation, I will give the land of Canaan, the Land of Israel. That land shall be the portion your children will inherit. I pledged this to you while you were still very few in number, a small people dwelling as strangers in the Land</english>

<text>1 In telling us to acknowledge "God," the verse uses the name י-ה-ו-ה (substituted in this siddur by the letters יְהֹוָה). This name of God is so holy that we cannot verbalize it at all; we must only acknowledge its existence. When the verse instructs us to call out "His Name," however, it is referring to the name אלהים, which alludes to God's presence in nature. This lower name should be "called out" and discussed.</text>
