<text>1 We commemorate two things on Shabbat: the culmination of the six days of creation, and God's rest on the seventh day. We make a distinction between these two events by focusing on the former during the Maariv Amidah, in which we mention "it is a reminder of Your work during the six days of creation," and the latter during the Shacharit Amidah, in which we do not mention it.</text>

<text>2 On Shabbat we do not ask for our personal needs in the Amidah as we do on weekdays. Shabbat is a day of joy, we do not wish to worry ourselves about the things we lack. Instead, we say a special blessing that focuses on the holiness of the Shabbat.</text>
