<english>God, Master of the worlds, You are Cause of all causes and Reason of all reasons for all that occurs throughout the worlds. You are He Who waters this tree; You are He Who grants the attributes power with Your name of Mah, that fountain of power. That fountain resembles a soul within the body—it is the life of the body (the creations). There is nothing within You akin or comparable to anything existing within or beyond the world. You formed heaven and earth. From heaven You brought forth sun and moon, stars and constellations; from earth You brought forth trees and greenery, the Garden of Eden, grasses, wild animals and cattle, birds, fish, and human beings, so as to make the higher worlds and the attributes known through them; to grasp how the higher and lower worlds are governed, and how, from the lower worlds, the higher worlds may be known and understood. Yet still, none knows anything about You, Yourself, God. Without You, unity would not exist in the higher and lower worlds, for only You are truly One. You are known as cause of all things and master of all things. Each attribute bears a specific name to describe it. Angels are also called</english>

<english>by these names, You, however, bear no specific name to describe Yourself, for You fill every name.3 Hence no name can possibly describe You. You are the One Who perfects all names. When You withdraw from the attributes, they and their names all grow lifeless, like a body without a soul. You are wise, yet not with the wisdom we know of. You understand, yet not with the understanding we know of.4 You have no particular place. You formed the attributes solely to make Your power and strength known to human beings and to reveal to them how the world is governed by Your law and mercy; to reveal that righteousness and justice exist, allotted to human beings according to their deeds. Law corresponds to Gevurah, severity; justice to the middle column; and righteousness to the holy attribute of Malchut, kingship. The balances of righteousness are truth’s two pillars, and a hin measure of righteousness is the holy Circumcision’s sign—the Covenant that You established with the Children of Israel. All of these were formed to show us how the world is governed, yet this does not imply that You possess a knowable righteousness—which is law—nor does it imply that You possess a knowable justice—which is mercy—nor does it imply that any of these descriptions or attributes confines You. The Lord is blessed forever. Amen and Amen.</english>

<text>1 The name of this world means “proximity” or “closeness.” It is the highest spiritual world and it is the closest to God’s essence.</text>

<text>2 The name of God that has a numerical value of 45 (Mah) is compared to “water that feeds a tree.” Just as the nature of water is that it enables dry particles (such as sand) to stick together, so does God’s name connect and unite all of God’s attributes into a single Oneness.</text>

<text>3 A name is something that limits a certain object—it identifies and defines what it is. God, who is unlimited, can therefore not be described by any specific name—He “fills every name” and can be identified in an unlimited number of ways.</text>

<text>4 God’s knowledge is completely different from ours. Human knowledge requires three separate elements: the person who possesses the knowledge (the knower), the ability to know (the power to know), and the subject matter being known (the known). Concerning God, however, there is no distinction between these three elements—they all exist as one within Him. God is the Knower, the power to know, and also the known.</text>
