<english>What follows is a song composed to be sung upon the steps of the Holy Temple: I raise my eyes toward the mountains, and I ask: Whence shall my help come? My help shall come from the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip. Your Guardian slumbers not and shall protect you at all times. Indeed, God, the Guardian of the Children of Israel, slumbers not and sleeps not. The Lord guards you; the Lord is your sheltering shade, Who is always at your right hand to shield you from danger. By day the sun's heat shall not harm you; nor shall the chill of the night—when the moon shines. The Lord shall keep you from every evil; He shall keep your soul. The Lord shall keep you in every place—wherever you come or go, and at every time—from now unto eternity.</english>

Just as one needs to remove the covering earth to reveal a well, likewise one needs to fully regret and remove all the bad from within oneself in order to reveal the "well" of pure water—the desire of the soul to connect to God.</text>
