<english>Lord, our God and the God of our fathers, may it be Your will that You habituate us in studying Your Torah and that You bind us to Your commandments. Do not lead us toward performing an unintentional sin nor to performing any other kind of transgression or willful sin. Do not even draw us toward a temptation of sin or subject us to embarrassment by other people. Do not permit the evil inclination to dominate us. Distance us from a bad person who is no friend of ours or a harmful friend, lest they sway us. Bind us to our good inclination, that we may wish to do only good things, and compel our evil inclination to be subservient to You. This day and every day, grant us grace, kindness, and mercy in a manner visible not only to Your eyes, yet likewise to the eyes of all who behold us; bestow upon us great kindness. <text>1 The Hebrew word for “universe,” עוֹלָם, shares its root with the word נֶעֱלָם, “hidden.” In the physical universe, God is hidden, and we do not always recognize that everything that occurs is by His will and decree. With each word of these blessings we are affirming God’s kingship over the universe despite the fact that it is hidden from us.</text>
