<text>1 The Torah tells us that when Moses prayed to God on Mount Sinai, he did so in three different ways: sitting, standing, and bending down. Similarly, we pray sitting (during the Shema), standing (during the Amidah), and bending down (during Tachanun). We conclude Tachanun by saying to God, "We do not know what else to do!" We have prayed before You in every way we know!</text>

<text>2 The prosecutor in the heavenly court claims that we are poor because we sinned, but our claim is that we sinned because we were poor. Here we ask God to listen to our argument and have mercy on us "quickly"—before the prosecutor has a chance to present his case for consideration.</text>
