<text>Do not slur over the ח, but prolong it slightly, for as long as affirming God's sovereignty in the seven heavens and on earth requires—equal to eight, ח's numerical value. Prolong the ד (whose numerical value is four) for as long as reflecting that God is alone in His world and that He rules in all four corners of the universe requires. When reciting the Shema, pause at the commas to convey this meaning: O Israel, hear (pause), the Lord who is our God (pause) is the one God. Further laws appear on page 588.</text>
