<english>Through the merit of [Miriam,] the prophetess, who danced forth before the encamped tribes,1 who inspired the thirsty Israelites in the wilderness, and through whose merit a flowing spring gave water2—aid and save a nation of whom it is said, "How goodly are your tents,"3 we implore You; You are our Father. Through the merit of [Joshua,] the attendant who never left his master's tent,4 on whom the Spirit of Holiness gleamed;5 as he crossed the Jordan the waters divided6—aid and save a lovely and radiant people,7 we implore You; You are our Father. Through the merit of [Gideon] who asked a token of goodness, who cried, "Where are Your wonders?" who wrung dew from the fleece, a full bowl of water,8—aid and save a people called the "bride of Lebanon,"9 we implore You; You are our Father. Through the merit of those dedicated to wage Your war, into whose hands You granted victory, who were chosen from among many as they lapped water from their hands10—aid and save a people that proved not disloyal to You, we implore You; You are our Father. Through the merit of [Samson,] only son of his parents, who beat down his foes, dedicated as a Nazir from the womb,11 for whom You made water issue from a jawbone12—for Your holy Name's sake, aid and save us, we implore You; You are our Father. Through the merit of [Samuel] who rose steadily in stature and renown,13 who held the congregation back from perverseness; when they turned from their sins he bade them draw water14—aid and save a people fair as Jerusalem,15 we implore You; You are our Father. Through the merit of [David] who rejoiced and danced and sang,16 who learned Torah accompanied by musical instruments,17 who spilled the water though he yearned to drink18—aid and save the people who set their hope in You, we implore You; You are our Father. Through the merit of [Elijah,] the pure one, who rose to heaven in a whirlwind,19 who showed zeal and quieted Your wrath,20 at his prayer fire came down and licked dust and water21—aid and save the people whose eyes shine like pools of water,22 we implore You; You are our Father. Through the merit of [Elisha] who served his master with fidelity, in whom a double portion of his master's spirit was vested,23 when the minstrel sang in his presence, the trenches filled with water24—aid and save the people who exclaimed, "Who is like You,"25 we implore You; You are our Father.</english>
