<english>Hearken, my masters, expert judges! Every vow, oath, or prohibition, even a ban on deriving benefit, that I placed upon myself or upon others, by any wording of prohibition, or any speech that has gone forth from my mouth, or that I vowed and determined in my heart even to fulfill a given mitzvah, or any worthy custom I practiced three times yet did not expressly declare that it shall be without the force of a vow—whether an undertaking I assumed for myself or regarding others, both those known to me and those already forgotten by me—all these I regret [in retrospect] from the instant I assumed them, and I request and seek their nullification. I do not, God forbid, rue having performed the good deeds I have done, but I regret that I never stated expressly “I shall do this without taking on the duty of a vow, an oath, or a commitment in thought.” Therefore I petition your honors for annulment; I regret every one of them, all those named above— whether they touched the physical, the spiritual, or the financial. Now, by law, one who regrets [his vows, etc.] and seeks annulment must recount the particulars of the vow; yet know, my masters, that they are numerous and cannot be specified—and I seek no nullification of vows that cannot be annulled—therefore treat them as though I had specified them.</english>
