<english>These are the precepts that have no fixed measure prescribed: the study of Torah, deeds of kindness, the gift of the first fruits, the pilgrimage offerings presented upon appearing before the Lord on the Three Festivals, and leaving for the poor the crops at the field's edge.2 These are the precepts whose fruits a man enjoys in this world, while the principal [reward] abides in the World to Come: visiting those who are sick, hospitality toward strangers, providing a dowry for the bride, accompanying the dead, concentrating in prayer, honoring one's father and mother, doing deeds of kindness, coming early to the House of Study, morning and evening, making peace between a man and his fellow-man and between husband and wife. And Torah study equals them all.3</english>
