<type>Passage</type>
<english>From Pesach's second night through the night preceding Shavuot, the Omer is counted. • Counting the Omer is best done at nightfall, right after the evening prayer. One may, however, count at any hour of the night. • Once the sun has set, one should avoid saying, "Today is the... day" prior to first reciting the blessing—e.g., answering a person who asks—for should he do so, his obligation stands already fulfilled. If, however, he stated only the day-count without introducing it by "Today is...," his obligation remains unfulfilled and the blessing may be recited. Nevertheless, one would do best to answer with how many days were counted the previous day. • Should one forget to count at night, daytime counting should be done without a blessing, and on the subsequent nights he may count with a blessing. If daytime counting was forgotten as well, he must, on the rest of the nights, count without a blessing. If he is unsure whether the previous night's count was made, and he did not count during the day, counting may proceed with a blessing. • One should not begin eating (even a light meal) within half an hour before twilight, prior to counting the Omer.</english>

<text>The chazzan recites the blessing and counts the Omer, and the congregation follows. The Omer is counted while standing. While counting the Omer, keep in mind: that night's corresponding sefirah; a word from the Psalm May God be gracious; a letter from the verse The nations will rejoice; and a word from We implore You (as indicated in Hebrew).</text>
