And a road [in the Euphrates] shall there be for the remnant of His people remaining from Ashur, as there was for Israel on the day he came up from the land of Egypt. On that day you shall say: I give thanks to You, Lord, that You were angry at me; Your wrath is now turned away and You comfort me. Indeed, God is my salvation; I trust and shall not fear, for God the Lord is my strength and song, and He has been my help. With joy you shall draw water from the wellsprings of deliverance. On that day you will say: Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His Name, make known His deeds among the nations, remember Him [with praise], for His Name is exalted; sing to the Lord, for great things has He done, it is known throughout the world. Lift your voice in jubilant song, you who dwells in Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.",

The poet's intent is to recount the glory of the Master of the universe, shown in the world's creation and by the heavenly hosts. He then portrays Israel's unwavering faith before those who incite them to idolatry—as voiced in their replies to them—and their fervent trust in the great bliss stored up for them, some of whose nature the poet depicts. (For a proper understanding of this poem, commentaries must be consulted.)"

Tremblingly I open with two or three stanzas, By leave of Him who creates and sustains the world forever. Eternal is His might and it could not be portrayed adequately Even were the heavens parchment, every tree a quill, The seas and all the waters were ink, All who dwell upon the earth were scribes and writers. The glorious Master of the heavens and Sovereign of the earth Alone founded the world, and wrapped it in mystery. Without toil, without weariness, He brought it to perfection, With the most readily spoken letter, which has no substance. In those six days He made ready all His work, Then in His glorious splendor mounted a throne of fire. Hosts of angels in myriads serve Him; Fresh ones arise each morning; great is His faithfulness.",
