"english": "Sing to Adonai, O you righteous; praise befits the upright. Acclaim God upon the lute, sing unto Adonai upon the ten-stringed harp; sound a new song to God, and let the shofar’s blast kindle the music. True is Adonai’s word and all God’s deeds are faithful. Righteousness and justice God loves; the world is filled with the love and kindness of Adonai. By God’s speech the heavens were formed, all their hosts by God’s breath; the waters of the sea were gathered as one, the deep laid up in treasure vaults. Let all the earth revere Adonai; let all who dwell in its lands tremble before God—for they came into being when God spoke; they exist because God commanded. Peoples’ designs Adonai overturns, foiling the plans of nations, yet Adonai’s purposes stand forever; God’s counsels, through every generation. Happy the people whose god is Adonai, the nation taken as God’s heritage. Adonai peers down from heaven, watching every human being; from the place of God’s dwelling, God looks upon all who live on earth: the one who shaped all their hearts discerns all they do. No ruler prevails by a great army, no warrior is saved through sheer might; horses grant no promise of victory, nor do vast hosts ensure refuge. Adonai’s gaze rests on those who revere God, on those who wait in hope upon God’s love and kindness, to save them from death and to sustain their lives amidst famine. Adonai we await, our helper and protector. We shall rejoice with God, having put trust in God’s holy name. Let Your love and kindness, Adonai, rest upon us, for in You we have placed our hope.",

It was intended as a kavanah—a preparation for greeting Shabbat—beginning as it does with song and ending with heartfelt joy. There is a leitmotif of “seven” throughout the psalm: seven teachings about God, seven words indicating praise at the beginning of the psalm, and, in the last three lines, seven words ending in the suffix ־נוּ (-nu), “we” or “us” or “our.”"
