<english>May the LORD's glory endure forever; in His works may the LORD rejoice. Blessed be the LORD's name, now and forever. From the sun's rising to its setting, praised be the LORD's name. High above all nations is the LORD; above the heavens is His glory. LORD, forever is Your name. From generation to generation, LORD, is Your renown. In heaven the LORD has set His throne; His kingdom rules all. Let heaven be glad and the earth rejoice. Let them say among the nations, "King is the LORD." King is the LORD, King was the LORD, King will the LORD be through eternity and all time. Through eternity and all time the LORD is King; nations will perish from His land. Plans of nations the LORD foils; intentions of peoples He frustrates. Many are a person's mental intentions, yet the LORD's plan prevails. Forever shall the LORD's plan stand, His mind's intent through all generations. Because He spoke, it came to be; at His command it stood firm. Zion has the LORD chosen; He desired it for His dwelling. Jacob has the LORD chosen as His own, Israel as His treasured possession. His people the LORD will not abandon; nor will He forsake His heritage. Compassionate is He. Iniquity He pardons and destruction He withholds. Again and again He holds back His anger, not stirring the whole of His wrath. Save, LORD! On the day we call, may the King answer us.</english>

<text>safely through a hazardous situation (recovering from illness, completing a potentially dangerous journey or being released from captivity). Nowadays, we make the HaGomel blessing (which is said after surviving illness, childbirth or danger) in place of the sacrifice. The psalm first appeared as part of the daily service in French prayer books of the Middle Ages. Its presence here is to emphasize the mood of thankfulness that dominates this section of the prayers.</text>
