Slaughter was permitted anywhere in the Temple court, and two sprinklings of their blood were required [at opposite corners of the altar], amounting to four in all. The flesh of these offerings, dressed in any fashion, might be eaten anywhere inside the city [Jerusalem], by anyone, for two days and one night. The same held for the portion of these sacrifices [given to the priests], save that the share of the priests was to be eaten solely by the priests, their wives, children and servants.</english>

<english>Of lesser holiness were the firstborn and tithe of cattle and the Pesaḥ lamb. Slaughter was permitted anywhere in the Temple court, and of their blood only a single sprinkling was required, and that at the altar's base. They differed in how they were eaten: priests alone ate the firstborn, while anyone might eat the tithe. Each might be eaten anywhere inside the city, dressed in any fashion, during two days and one night. The Pesaḥ lamb had to be consumed that night until midnight. Only those numbered for it might partake of it, and solely when roasted.</english>
