<english>descendants of Jacob have been sold for nothing. Refined and delicate, fit for royalty, they have been scored with long furrows through many years and days. Jacob’s house is handed over to plunder, to jeering and slander, and the joyous city to vineyards. Drenched in poison by lawless ones, is the people once desired like offerings, like fragrant incense. They have scorned and neglected the Torah of Moses Avi-Zanoah; by night or by day they find no rest. Awesome, highest God, may longing arise in You to bring Israel a year of recompense for its strife. Restore our days as of old, Dwelling Place who is our God from of old. And wash our crimson guilt white as wool; our stains as snow. ▸ Fortify us in awe of You, and in keeping Your Law. And draw near to us, in Your salvation, God who is full of compassion.</english>
